I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to let you know that I have recently informed the Old Grammarians Committee of my intention to stand down as President with immediate effect. I had always intended to fulfil my role for the full 2025/26 season but unfortunately, I felt this was no longer possible, due to some recent events I have had to deal with.
Whilst this was a very difficult decision to make, I feel it is the correct one for me personally at the current time.
The Club will continue to function due to a group of fully committed, hardworking, but not always visible volunteers, who I believe (as I am sure the majority of you do) should be treated with respect and kindness at all times.
Please have a peaceful and restful summer and I look forward to seeing you at some point in the new season
Kind regards
Paul's rugby story started in the 1970s at Old Tottonians who, at the time, were OGs greatest and bitterest rivals. Fortunately, common sense prevailed and a Damascene conversion saw Paul leave Totts and join OGs in the early 1990s. Paul quickly established himself in the 1st XV, winning his Honours in 1996 and becoming team Captain the following season. Paul became Club Captain in 1999 and again in 2002. He held that position until 2019, when he was appointed Club President following Keith McGuinness' stepping down.
Paul leaves OGs in an excellent state and can reflect on a job well done. Hopefully we will see him on the touchline from time to time now that he will be able to enjoy the rugby without having to worry about leading the post-match formalities.
