The U10s were offered a last minute fixture against our friends at Wanstead RFC and, with their pitches just about holding up, we packed the cars and headed out this morning with two teams for a bonus run out.
As seems to be the theme of 2026, the moment we arrived the heavens opened and the rain came thundering down.
Undeterred, these U10s from both clubs showed what they are made of. After a sharp warm up, it was straight into game time.
We know Wanstead well and they are always strong at the ruck. Old Grammarians worked hard to keep them on their toes, producing some lovely offloads and a much improved passing display to keep the ball alive. Despite the conditions, we saw glorious breaks, crunching tackles and excellent support play from both sides. The effort and bravery on show in driving rain was brilliant to see.
A massive well done to all the players who thoroughly earned their hot dogs and hot chocolates afterwards in Wanstead’s welcoming clubhouse.
Congratulations to Mikey and Max N who picked up Old Grammarians Players of the Day. Very well deserved.
Another strong step forward. Keep working, keep smiling and keep backing each other.
