Match Report: Old Grammarians Shine in Tring Sunshine

OG's Touch Team traveled to Tring this weekend for a mini-tournament that delivered high-quality touch rugby, plenty of sunshine and a display of true grit. Despite a few last-minute squad changes, the OG ladies showed exactly what they were made of in a lovely setting that matched the spirit of the day.

The Squad

With 10 players available, the team had to dig deep. Special mention must go to our tireless wingers, Mirella and Jen, who played every single minute of all three matches! The rest of the squad rotated halves to keep the energy high and the lines tight.

Match Highlights

Game 1: Old Grammarians 1 - 1 Tring

A cagey opening affair saw both defenses tested early. The Old Grammarians maintained relentless pressure, eventually forcing Tring into an offside error. Vix capitalized perfectly, crossing the line to secure a hard-fought draw.

Game 2: Old Grammarians 2 - 1 Tring

The momentum shifted in the second match as the OGs found their rhythm. Fi O showcased brilliant vision, scoring a classic try off a quick scoop that left the defense scrambling. However, the moment of the match belonged to Mirella; playing on the wing, she sprinted home to score her first-ever try!

Game 3: Old Grammarians 2 - 1 Tring

Closing out the day with clinical efficiency, the OGs dominated the final whistle. Both Vix and Fi O found the scoresheet again, expertly drawing fouls from an offside Tring defense to seal the victory and the series win.

Heroics and Healing

The day wasn't without its setbacks. During the second match, Fi C was unfortunately forced off the pitch following a rough tackle that resulted in a twisted knee. While the injury required a trip to A&E, the team was lucky to have Dr. Michelle on the sidelines, who provided immediate strapping and expert medical advice.

We wish Fi C a very speedy recovery.

Final Verdict: Two wins, one draw, and a fantastic display of teamwork. A massive well done to the ladies for a successful day on the road!
