The U14s delivered a fantastic morning of rugby as they were crowned winners of the Middlesex Waterfall Values Festival, hosted brilliantly by Enfield. Throughout the tournament, the team embodied the TREDS values (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship), showcasing not only exciting, running rugby in attack but also determination and grit in defence.
In the pool stages, the U14s got off to a flying start with convincing wins over Enfield Golds and Wasps FC. These performances secured their place in the semi-finals, where they were drawn against a strong Finchley side who had caused an upset by beating Ruislip—one of the pre-tournament favourites.
Finchley struck first in the semi-final, scoring within the opening five minutes. But the U14s responded in style, showing great resilience and attacking flair as they ran in three unanswered tries to secure a well-earned place in the final.
In the other semi-final, Enfield delivered a surprise result of their own, putting in a dominant performance to overcome Ealing and set up a thrilling final.
The U14s hit the ground running in the final, storming to a two-try lead. Enfield fought back with a strong spell of pressure and managed to score a late try, but the final stages saw some of the most committed defending of the day. Outstanding teamwork and sheer determination on the line kept Enfield out and sealed a memorable victory for the U14s.
This was not just a tournament win, but a celebration of values-driven rugby, where skill, spirit, and sportsmanship shone through. Well done to all involved!
