Sunday’s game against Ruislip was everything we expected from two very strong teams going toe-to-toe. With only a single point separating the sides in last year’s fixture — when Ruislip produced an impressive second-half fightback to steal a 27–26 win after we had led 19–5 — there was always going to be high expectation and intensity.
From the first whistle, the boys showed excellent game management, staying focused and patient even when put under serious pressure. OGs delivered an exceptional team performance, working for each other in every area of the pitch and showing clear growth from last season.
Our structure and decision-making paid off, with OG running in four very well-worked tries — each built from strong phase play, support lines and disciplined execution. This earned the boys a fully deserved bonus point and put them in control of the match.
Ruislip, as always, were tough, organised and competitive throughout, but OG held firm and closed out the game superbly to secure a 22–14 victory.
It was a proper battle between two top sides, played with intensity, respect and real quality — an excellent benchmark for the rest of the season.
