Our U8s are open to children in School Year 3, and whether they’ve been playing rugby for a couple of years or are picking up a rugby ball for the very first time, everyone is welcome.

At U8s, the emphasis is still very much on fun, friendship and enjoyment, while continuing to build on the skills introduced in the younger age groups. Players will develop their passing, catching, running, evasion and support skills, as well as starting to gain a better understanding of teamwork and how the game flows.

Training sessions use a mixture of fun games, skills activities and small-sided tag rugby, giving the children plenty of opportunities to get their hands on the ball, try new things and build their confidence. We want every player to feel involved and leave training with a smile on their face!

As the season progresses, there will also be opportunities to put those skills into practice against other clubs at fixtures and festivals, where the focus remains firmly on participation, development and having fun with their teammates.

Everything we do is built around England Rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship – TREDS. These values are at the heart of our sessions and help our young players learn to support one another, respect their coaches, teammates and opposition, and enjoy being part of the rugby family.
