All new players are assured of the warmest of welcomes to our U11s group!
Our U11s are open to children in School Year 6, whether they’ve been playing rugby for years, are joining us from another club or are completely new to the game. There’s always room for another player in the team!
At U11s, the rugby continues to develop, building on everything the players have learnt through the younger age groups while gradually introducing more elements of the full game.
The focus is still firmly on enjoyment, development and teamwork[/b*, while helping players become more confident in their own abilities. Training continues to develop key skills including [b]passing, catching, tackling, running, evasion and support play, alongside a greater understanding of positioning, decision-making and working together as a team.
Sessions are a mixture of skills, drills and plenty of game-based activities. As the players grow in confidence and experience, our coaches encourage them to think for themselves, communicate with each other and make decisions on the pitch, while continuing to develop safe and effective contact skills.
Fixtures and festivals against other clubs give the players the chance to put everything they’ve learnt into practice, enjoy some competitive rugby and, of course, have plenty of fun with their teammates. At this age, development and participation remain far more important than the final score, with the aim of giving everyone the opportunity to play, improve and enjoy their rugby.
Just as importantly, U11s is about the friendships and experiences that come with being part of a team. We want our players to grow in confidence, support one another and develop a genuine love of the game that will hopefully stay with them for many years to come.
Everything we do is built around England Rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship – TREDS.
New players are always welcome, so come along, give it a go and become part of the team!
