Esme Wright12 May - 09:00

It might be the end of the season but there's still lots going on!

  • Men's Team – A brave performance from the OGs Seniors saw them take the fight to a powerful Sittingbourne side in a National Cup semi-final packed with action, big moments and some outstanding tries. • Touch Team – OG's Ladies headed to Tring for a sun-soaked tournament full of high-quality touch rugby, determination and brilliant team spirit. • Minis Section Celebrates a Fantastic End of Season Presentation Day – Sunday saw the min's section come together to celebrate another brilliant season for the Minis section as players, coaches, volunteers and families gathered for the annual End of Season Presentation Day.

Despite the traditional rugby weather doing its best to remind everyone that summer has not quite arrived, with a cold breeze and plenty of layers on show, the atmosphere around the club was warm from start to finish.

Every age group from the youngest minis upwards had their moment to be recognised, celebrating the effort, improvement, teamwork and enjoyment shown throughout the season. The presentations highlighted everything that makes the Minis section so special. From first tackles and first tries to huge improvements in confidence and teamwork, the day was a reminder of just how much progress every player has made over the course of the year.

Huge credit must go to all of the coaches, team managers and volunteers who give up so much time to make Sundays possible, as well as the parents and supporters who continue to back the club week in, week out.

A special mention goes to our Under 12s, who now move up into the Youth section. The group has been a huge credit to the club throughout their minis journey and we wish every player the very best as they take the next step in their rugby development. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow both on and off the pitch in the years ahead.

The day was not only a chance to hand out awards, but also an opportunity for the whole club community to come together socially and celebrate another successful season. The clubhouse remained busy throughout the afternoon with plenty of laughter, stories and well-earned refreshments shared between players, parents and coaches alike.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising the event and helping make it such a successful day. The future of the club continues to look incredibly bright.

  • Alex Mintikkis Represents Middlesex U17s – Congratulations to OG Colts player Alex Mintikkis who represented Middlesex U17s against Hampshire yesterday. Although Middlesex came out on the wrong side of a 22–7 scoreline, the game was far closer than the result suggests, with Alex putting in a strong performance featuring some excellent carries and big tackles throughout the match.

A fantastic achievement for Alex and everyone at Old Grammarians is incredibly proud to see another player representing the county setup. Also great to see OG Colts Coach David Roche involved with the Middlesex U17s/U18s management team. Well done to both! See picture below

  • Summer Touch – Summer Touch got off to a fantastic start last week with players aged 14 right through to 54 taking to the pitch together in a brilliant evening of touch rugby and socialising. It's not too late to get involved, click here for more details and to sign up

  • Don't forget - Youth Boys and Girls end of season presentation, 5th June from 6pm at the club.
