All new players are assured of the warmest of welcomes to our U10s group!
Our U10s are open to children in School Year 5, whether they’ve been with us since their first days in the U6s, have played rugby elsewhere or are completely new to the game.
At U10s, players continue to build on the skills they’ve learnt so far, with the game gradually developing and becoming a little more recognisable as the rugby they see played by the older age groups.
The focus remains firmly on enjoyment, development and being part of a team, while continuing to improve core skills including passing, catching, tackling, running, evasion and support play. Players are encouraged to make decisions for themselves, communicate with their teammates and grow in confidence both with and without the ball.
Training sessions combine skills and drills with plenty of games and match play. Our coaches work with the players to develop safe and confident contact skills, while introducing the next stages of the game at a pace that is appropriate for their age and experience.
Fixtures and festivals against other clubs are another important part of the U10s season, giving everyone the opportunity to put their skills into practice. While we all love a good game of rugby, the emphasis at this age is still on development rather than results – making sure everyone gets involved, gets plenty of game time and, most importantly, enjoys themselves.
As well as developing rugby players, we want to help build confidence, friendships and a real sense of team spirit. Win, lose or draw, we encourage our players to support each other, respect the opposition and enjoy being part of the rugby family.
Everything we do is built around England Rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship – TREDS.
New players are always welcome, so come along, get involved and become part of the team!
